Mission Hills Kansas is a suburb of Kansas City located in the northeast of Johnson County. It is considered part of the greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Nearby cities include: Prairie Village, Shawnee, Merriam, Overland Park, Mission, Lenexa, Leawood, Roeland Park, and Kansas City Missouri.

In 1830, Quakers established the Shawnee Indian Mission. By the 1920’s visionary developer JC Nichols had earmarked Mission Hills as the pinnacle of luxurious suburban living. The proximity to his other famous development of the Country Club Plaza was strategic and deliberate. The locations of the Country Club Plaza and Mission Hills were intentional to support the lavish country club lifestyles of wealthy business owners in Kansas City, MO. By 1949, the city was incorporated.
